Hulu Tamu Ride Photos

Hulu Tamu ride 14th Feb 2009 - I think the most memorable ride we have ever done todate. 7 of us , Eddy, Fariq, Fazrul, Rosli, Din Subang, Ilyias and me. Others could not make it.

Almost everything went wrong in the morning, and we only reached Hulu Tamu Hotsprings at 11.15 am. We started cycling at 11.30. Reached the top at 2.30. Fazrul went on ahead the orang asli trail up to the waterfalls. The rest rested below, victim of 3 punctures, two tire changes and at least 3 leech bites each.

Back to the Hot springs at 4.30. Anyway, pictures speak for themselves. This should have been posted at least a week ago, but I had to learn how to resize photos because 3 cameras were used.

The Hulu Tamu Ride is on. 14th February 2009.

Route - hulu Tamu Hot Springs. Park and Ride
Orang Asli Village
Cross 2 rivers,
Chalet,
Up to Water fall 9.5km- tentative, (tengok condition rider) alternative to kem Dubai 2km,
Back down original route

For anyone wanting to follow.

Meeting point 1. After the Rawang Toll plaza - 8.45 to 9.15 am
Meeting point 2. At Hulu Tamu Hot Springs 9.45 to 10.00 am
Please bring along some food.

Details to the place as per Limang's posting as attached below but we enter the Hotspring:

Cara nak pergi :
-Pandu ke Shell Batang Kali (local people call it Shell Ligamas)
-Depan Shell ada trafic light simpang 4, ambil simpang yang menuju ke hulu tamu.
-Jalan terus, jumpa simpang tiga, kalau terus pi genting, kalau kiri pi hulu tamu, ambil kiri
-Jalan terus, lalu kg kuantan, kg genting malik dll. sampai jumpa satu simpang di kanan jalan ada tulis kolam air panas hulu tamu, ambil simpang tersebut
-jalan terus, jumpa simpang ke kolam air panas , JANGAN MASUK, jalan terus lagi
-lepas tu lalu kampung orang/ orang asli (saya start kayuh sini)
-alert, ada satu Y junction, ambil kiri, kalau masuk junction ni jumpa kilang air mineral maknanya betul
-jalan terus je dlm 2km akan jumpa sungai. sini boleh park kereta/ camping free
-cross sungai, dlm 1.5 km lagi jumpa satu lagi sungai, cross lagi (saya kem di sini). Ada resort nama owner dia Hamzah -daripada chalet saya naik atas lagi, ada satu je jalan/trek 4x4 menuju ke air terjun (lupa tanya namanya)
-saya kayuh 3.5km aje, semua naik bukit, takde yang turun. ada balance lagi 6km nak sampai air terjun.
-dah tak berani nak panjat pasal sorang2, sunyi dan segan. 4x4 pun hanya yang hardcore aje boleh panjat ke sini
-so, saya patah balik ke chalet
-kemudian panjat semula, 500m drp chalet ada satu simpang Y, ambil kiri, kayuh uphill 1.75km akan jumpa sungai (diorang panggil kem dubai), lepas tu turun semula.

I found this trail on the Jomkayuh website posted by Limang. Having seen the photos, I decided to do a recon picnic. Anyway the proposed itinerary for next week's proposed ride as follows actual date to be advised, probably 14th February:-

Park at Hulu Tamu Hot Springs
Cycle to Orang Asli village
Cross river 1
Offroad
Cross river 2
Offrad to chalet
Offroad to Waterfall
Ride back downhill and back to Hotsprings

Kota Damansara Community Forest Clear and Ride

8 Riders turned up for the event. Not many but enough for a 1st time effort. We managed to clear a lot of minor obstacles but the fallen trees were too much for us remove. I don't have many photos but a lot were taken by Din of Seksyen 4. We spent about 1 hour chopping the 1st big log, successful in cutting into two but too heavy to move.

Looking forward to the TRAKS event on 15th February with their works team.
